Advisory Committee on Countryside Conservation

The Advisory Committee on Countryside Conservation (ACCC) was established in July 2019. Chaired by the Secretary for Environment and Ecology (#), the members of the ACCC comprise scholars, professionals, rural/district stakeholders, representatives of green groups as well as representatives of relevant government bureaux / departments.

The main duties of the ACCC are to advise on the priorities for the conservation and revitalisation works proposals to be carried out by the Countryside Conservation Office; as well as on the policy and matters relating to the overall administration, operation and funding approach of the Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme (CCFS).

To facilitate the ACCC to consider the CCFS applications, the Vetting Subcommittee (VSC) was set up in October 2019 to vet the project applications and make recommendations to the ACCC.

# The ACCC was chaired by the Secretary for the Environment prior to the re-organisation of the Government structure which took effect from 1 July 2022. The Secretary for Environment and Ecology may, if needed, appoint the Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology as Acting Chairman to preside at the ACCC meeting.

Expert Group on Conservation for Sha Lo Tung

The Expert Group on Conservation for Sha Lo Tung (Expert Group) was established in March 2024.  With Professor Lam Kin-che as the convener, the members include experts and scholars from fields of nature conservation or related sectors involved in promoting conservation work, as well as representatives of the relevant government bureau and department.

The work of the Expert Group includes assisting the Government in mapping out the long-term strategies for conservation of ecology and biodiversity in Sha Lo Tung, advising the Government on measures to promote scientific research and eco-recreation in Sha Lo Tung, and steering the implementation of conservation studies and projects carried out in Sha Lo Tung.
