Conservation and Revitalisation Strategies for Architecture and Landscape of Hakka Village Spaces in Sha Tau Kok
Project Description
Among the coastal Hakka settlements in the "Sha Tau Kok 10 Yeuk", Nam Chung, Luk Keng, Fung Hang and Kuk Po have preserved numerous traditional buildings. These buildings integrate and interact with the surrounding environment, which gives rise to the distinctive landscape and ecological system.
This project researched the 4 abovementioned Hakka villages, with a focus on Kuk Po's traditional architecture, landscape and social culture. On the premise of preserving the traditional village environment, the project formulated revitalisation strategies that encompass the restoration of traditional buildings and the integration of cultural assets for the long-term sustainability of the Hakka settlements.
