Ngau Shi Wu

Ngau Shi Wu, one of the seven villages under the Hing Chun Alliance, is a branch of the Tsang family descended from three brothers originally from Lai Chi Wo. At its peak, the village had over a hundred residents who mainly relied on farming and fishing for their livelihood. In the 1960s, following a tragic shipwreck and the gradual decline of the agriculture and fishing industries, villagers relocated collectively, leading to the village's abandonment. Today, only remnants such as a wine-brewing stove and irrigation facilities remain, quietly bearing witness to the village life in the past.

There are two common theories about the origin of the village name "Ngau Shi Wu": one suggests the terrain resembles the shape of an ox, symbolising prosperity; the other attributes it to a mispronunciation of "Ngau Chi Wu" (Ox Pond Lake).
