Bokashi Composting Study
The Bokashi Composting Study at Lai Chi Wo aimed to explore the feasibility of using Bokashi composting to recycle organic materials into soil conditioners and fertilisers, enhancing farmland productivity sustainably and efficiently. Conducted in a remote village without direct vehicle access, the study utilised effective microorganisms (EM) to ferment farm residues, animal dung, and food waste. The experiment involved monitoring temperature and pH levels during fermentation and testing nutrient content after curing. The results were applied to turnip planting, with observations on germination, growth, and quality. This study highlighted the potential of Bokashi composting as a nature-based solution for resource management in rural communities. Please click here to read the detailed study report.
