Luk Keng

Luk Keng located in the Sha Tau Kok area of northeastern New Territories, is a multi-lineage Hakka village. Historically, the village formed the "Nam Luk Yeuk" alliance with neighboring Hakka villages including Luk Keng and Kai Kok Shue Ha. This alliance represents the eighth of the ten traditional village alliances in Sha Tau Kok, and maintains the custom of jointly holding Jiao festival every decade.

The area preserves traditional rural landscapes featuring farmland, fish ponds, and mangrove wetlands. It contains two Grade III historic buildings: Wong Chun Yu Ancestral Hall and Nam Tak Chan Ancestral Hall & Chan Nam Tak Ancestral Hall, witnessing the settlement in Luk Keng.

Historically, Luk Keng served as a transportation hub for northeastern villages, and it remains a trailhead for hikes to nearby villages, including Fung Hang and Kuk Po.
