Reuniting in Kuk Po: Celebration of Traditional Festivals

Festive customs form the foundation of a village, reflecting its values and providing opportunities for community gatherings. In the past, Kuk Po villagers celebrated the New Year with vibrant Hakka Qilin dances together.

The project team is reviving Kuk Po's traditional festivals with modern innovation to organise festive event such as "Kuk Po Spring Equinox Festival", participatory workshops, and art exhibitions by utilising the village's history and natural resources. These activities have transformed Kuk Po's cultural assets into tourism resources, to attract Kuk Po villagers from all over the world and the public, and arouse people's interest in countryside conservation. It not only revives the bustling scene of Kuk Po in the past, also brings the unique character of Kuk Po to the urban area, allowing the public to appreciate the beauty of Kuk Po and other remote rural areas in Hong Kong.
