Project Plum Grove II: Environmental-Friendly Design in Old House Restoration
The restoration works of Mui Tsz Lam old house adhere to the principle of “using locally sourced materials”. In addition to reconstructing the rammed earth walls with soil from the village, the project repurposes brick salvaged from collapsed village houses for wall restoration. The restoration design incorporates the following innovative low-carbon construction technologies: 1) Building-integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) system; 2) Rainwater harvesting system; and 3) Composting toilets. These initiatives demonstrate the commitment to promoting ecological conservation through sustainable architecture.
