From Valley to Plain: An Overview of Culture and Architecture

The history and culture of the Hakka people can date back to a long time ago in the past. Being native to the Central Plains of Mainland China, they had been migrating southward for thousands of years alongside with their culture, beliefs, and traditions to places such as Guangdong, with Hong Kong being one of their destinations. The Hakka people settled in Kuk Po first during the end-Ming to early-Qing Dynasty and there were 8 clans of them living here forming various settlements during its heyday. From their houses, one could learn about the beliefs, customs, and feng shui practices of the Hakka people.
