Rehabilitation Project for Sai Wan Area (2020-2023)

Project Description

The project aimed to rehabilitate the rural ecology and humanistic culture of Sai Wan, Sai Kung. Through re-cultivation of farmland abandoned for nearly half a century, the project created diverse habitats and enhanced the biodiversity of Sai Wan area.

Management Measures

  • Rehabilitated farmland and practised organic farming

  • Created eco-ponds and cultivated wetland plants, such as water ferns

  • Cultivated butterfly host plants and nectar plants, such as Pseudosasa cantori

  • Conducted regular ecological monitoring and surveys

• Take non-franchised public bus No. NR29 from Sai Kung Town Centre to Sai Wan Pavilion, then hike for about 45 minutes to Sai Wan

• Reference Route: Sai Wan Pavilion → Chui Tung Au → Sai Wan
