Water Quality Monitoring in Mai Po
Good water quality is essential for the survival of wetland wildlife and directly impacts wetland biodiversity. The project team at Mai Po Nature Reserve has installed water quality sensors at one of the gei wai and a water channel connecting the Inner Deep Bay inter-tidal mudflat. Using Internet of Things (IoT) technology, water quality data including pH, temperature, chlorophyll, salinity, and dissolved oxygen will be automatically uploaded to the online central management system every hour. In addition to enhancing data collection, wetland managers can monitor and analyse the latest water quality data anytime and anywhere, thereby improving the management effectiveness of Mai Po wetland.
