Understanding on Hakka Architecture and its Restoration Techniques from the Perspective of College Students
Several college students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Heritage Conservation participated in an internship programme during the summer holiday of 2021. This programme included various components, such as on-site practical training by the supervisors and restoration experts from the engineering companies, in-depth interviews with villagers, and participation in restoration workshops, etc. These experiences not only enlightened the students with the heritage restoration process but also deepened their understanding on architecture in the countryside areas as well as the elaborated history behind them.
Throughout the programme, the students vividly jotted down the things they have learnt through illustrative notes and illustrations that, demonstrated the importance of cultural inheritance.
