Tap Mun Tern Festival

During the summer months from May to September, there are migrant terns regularly come to breed on the small and remote rocky island in the southeastern waters in Hong Kong, with Tap Mun being one of them.

Therefore, the project organisation hopes to promote Tap Mun's unique culture and scenery to the public by hosting the Tap Mun Tern Festival, combining conservation, education and tourism. The team places great emphasis on the participation of Tap Mun villagers, allowing them to take charge of key activities such as guided tours, markets, lion dances and qilin dances. This approach helps villagers understand the conservation work of the project team, fosters community cohesion, and promotes cultural exchange between villagers and the public.

This event deeply impressed the team with the villagers' enthusiasm and sense of belonging to their homeland. The villagers are eager to promote and pass on Tap Mun's culture. Therefore, the team hopes to organise more similar activities in the future to further interact and connect with the villagers.
