Tap Mun History and Culture

The project team conducted a comprehensive survey of Tap Mun's historical and cultural heritage and wrote a research report detailing the history, architecture, natural and landscape, and socio-cultural (intangible cultural heritage) values of Tap Mun.

The survey results indicate that Tap Mun's cultural landscape is closely linked to the traditional lifestyle of the island's residents and is intertwined with its intangible heritage. This heritage continues to evolve under the influence of the natural environment, as well as the broader social, economic and cultural forces of Hong Kong.

Tap Mun has transformed from a fishing village into a popular tourist destination for enjoying nature, and this evolution is ongoing.
