Lo Wai Garden: The Principle of Authenticity in Conservation

The restoration design of the ruined garden adopts a "micro-renewal" approach, which attempts to revitalise the site with minimal intervention.
The design also demonstrates the principle of authenticity in conservation by placing plug-ins made of modern materials. This not only enhances the site's landscape and accessibility but also highlights the contrast between old and new, enabling the visitor to clearly distinguish between the original structure and new additions.

Due to the complicated topography of the project site, the project team carefully reviewed the proposed design through computer and physical models during the design process.
