Lo Wai Garden: A hundred years old house built in late Qing Dynasty
The project site, Sungs' House, was built in the late Qing Dynasty which dates back to some 100 years age and showcased characteristics the traditional architecture at that time. The Sungs' House layout was a typical village house in the late Qing, while its cluster with the nearby buildings was the signature row house arrangement in the 1933-40s. Meanwhile, the consturction materials used in the Sung House, such as wood, rammed earth bricks, gray bricks, and granite, were all local building materials. The project building is of precious historical values which fully embodied the history of the Kuk Po village, the traditional architecture and its craftsmanship.
Besides, the Sungs are one of the four major families in Kuk Po. Restoring and renewing the Sungs' house will not only preserve a valuable piece of history but also contribute to rebuilding the community cohesion of Kuk Po and promoting communication and interaction among the villagers.
