Research – Oral History and Sociality

The project organisation aims to gain a deeper understanding of Hakka culture in Yung Shue Au Village. During February to March 2024, they were guided by the villagers to explore the village, visiting culturally significant locations, such as the pier and the school. The project organisation also participated in the Hakka New Year celebrations with Qilin dances, celebrated with the villagers, and interacted with the villagers to gain an in-depth understanding of the village culture.

The project organisation also shared the design concept of the Experimental Communal Hub to villagers. The project organisation interviewed and documented the past experiences of villagers in the form of oral history, as well as their future aspirations. The project organisation aspired to collaboratively create the design for the Experimental Communal Hub with the villagers. You can read the Research Report here.
