From Valley to Plain: Oral History of Kuk Po’s Villagers

The project team conducted oral history interviews to gather information needed for the “Eco-cultural Trail” design and various study report writings. The interviewees included the village heads of Ku Po Village, Mr. Yeung and Mr. Sung, and villagers who had lived or grown up in Yi To, Ng To, and Tin Sam villages. Through the interviews, we learned about their (or their families') backgrounds, collected their stories of growing up and living in Kuk Po, and collected oral histories on different aspects of Kuk Po's past, including its livelihood, beliefs, agriculture, festivals and customs, architecture, etc., as well as their visions of Kuk Po and their views on the future development of Kuk Po.

Read the transcripts (Chinese version only) to discover more about their experiences and get a sense of Kuk Po Village’s history from their perspective.
