The history of the west gate
The west gate is associated with the Lai Chi Wo village's wedding customs. The road in front of the West Gate is called the "Bride's Road," as the name suggests, the brides entering the village must pass through the Bride's Road and the west gate. They were not allowed to use the east gate to enter. This custom was still observed in the 1960s and 1970s. Many Mrs. Tsang and Mrs. Wong married into Lai Chi Wo Village through the Bride's Road and the west gate.
