Since the 40s, when the Ma On Shan Iron Mining industry was flourishing, more and more people came to Ma On Shan (mining village) to work as miners, and the mining village gradually formed. But the villagers did not call this place "Ma On Shan Village". The real Ma On Shan Village actually refers to a nearby indigenous village. The villagers of mining village use the location to distinguish various district. "Ma On Shan Peak" is the district near The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong and ST. Francis Church, and is also the highest residential location in the village. " Ma On Bridge district" , as its name suggests, is the residential area nearby the Ma On Bridge, and then go down the road when you see the intersections on the left, which is "Upper and lower Mid-levels district", and the current location of Hang On Estate and Yiu On Estate is the Pear District in the past.
