Fu Tei Au Story House
The Story House was originally home to villagers. Through the project of the Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme, it was renovated and transformed into a small exhibition venue. In particular, the designer retained the original squatter house structure to enable the visitors in experiencing the living unit in the past.
The Story House can be divided into 3 parts:
Hall 1 features the exhibition panels regarding the history and the villagers' daily lives in the past. Besides, there are physical models that highlight the key buildings and historical sites within the village. Hall 2 has an array of the farming tools and furniture previously used by the villagers that reconstruct the living spaces of former rural life. Hall 3 showcases the conceptual design on the sustainable development of Fu Tei Au Tsuen prepared by the students from the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong that provides a forum for discussion on the prospects of countryside conservation by the general public.
The Story House reminisces the past people and tales of Fu Tei Au Tsuen, narrating the century-long journey of the village since its beginning till now that bridge the past and the present.
