"Ecological pond" and "artifical marsh"

Through a series of restoration works, the project reconstructed and improved artificial marshes, as well as developed and enhanced eco-ponds. How did these two initiatives improve the habitat of Sha Lo Tung and increase the ecological value of the local area?

The creation and optimisation of the "ecological pond" provided more water bodies for the increasingly drying Sha Lo Tung, while also creating more suitable habitats for dragonflies, freshwater fish, and amphibians to thrive and reproduce. The reconstruction of the "artificial marsh," through land levelling, water injection, and the planting of aquatic vegetation, further increased the wetland area and enhanced local habitat and species diversity.
