Dragonflies in Lai Chi Wo
In Lai Chi Wo, 58 species of dragonflies can be observed, which accounts for 44% of the recorded dragonfly species in Hong Kong. Dragonflies are also one of the conservation targets of the project (others include frogs, butterflies, aquatic plants, and rice fish). The project organisation creates different habitats through agricultural and seasonal planning, such as paddy fields (shallow water habitat), lotus ponds (deep water habitat), and dry fields with flowering plants (nectar sources) for species use, providing a more suitable habitat for dragonflies.
