Daily life in the village
People from all over the world have become miners in the Ma On Shan Iron Mine, forming a village, the former villagers lived behind the countryside, farming, raising livestock are common. Wang, who lives in Ma On Shan upper village house No. 1, said, "I raise the chickens for my own food, and I don't sell and buy them." There was a time I didn't see the hen go back to the house, and it turned out that she went up the mountain to hatch the eggs." The animals that live in the mountains seem to be accustomed to a way of life that is unique to the mountains.
In addition to self-sufficiency, there used to be a "Twilight Market" in the former upper District, where there were different shops, and some mobile stalls would only appear in the morning. In the Upper village, there are steamed bun, clay oven rolls, and wonton from the north. There are villagers in the upper and lower village district who will come up to sell pig meat, villagers in Ma On Bridge will come up to sell tofu, and some villagers will hike to Sai Kung to catch fish and bring them back to sell. There are also stores selling grain, oil, miscellaneous goods, snacks, etc. The villagers can still buy daily necessities for life even lived in the mountains, and there is no need to go down the mountain. The community has established its own economic development.
