Bird survey

Survival of butterflies depends on their hosts and nectar plants, they are also very sensitive to environmental changes during the breeding period. Therefore, the project organisation needs to review the ecological monitoring data of Fung Yuen to implement adaptive management in the Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve and reduce the risk of environmental changes.

On the other hand, the variety and number of birds can also reflect the habitat diversity of Fung Yuen. The ecological environment of Fung Yuen includes the valley topography of Cloudy Hill, the shrubs and grasslands on the hillside, dense woods and orchards. More than 100 bird species have been recorded. The project organisation conduct a quarterly bird survey to record the species and numbers of birds seen in Fung Yuen Valley from the beginning of the project to the present, thereby inferring the impact of the conservation plan on the number and species of birds.
