Forest Village: Agroforestry
The terrace farmlands in Mui Tsz Lam have long been abandoned and was taken over by secondary woodland. In order to conserve the ecology of Mui Tsz Lam, the project team adopted agroforestry to retain large trees and rare plant species, and planted shade-tolerant crops such as coffee and ginger in the forest.
In addition to boosting the local economy and protecting forests, agroforestry also promoted the diversity of habitats and animal species.
The project team also made good use of the forest space to grow mushrooms at the art installations in the forest.
