New Round of Application and Briefing Session

I.                   Application

The Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme (CCFS) is inviting a new round of applications for the following types of projects under prescribed themes, locations and scopes specified below:

 

1.      Nature Conservation Management Agreement (MA) Projects

A total of 4 MA projects are invited in this round of application to conserve ecologically important sites under private ownership.

Location:

1.    Fung Yuen; and

2.    Ramsar Site and Deep Bay Wetland outside the Ramsar Site, covering the fishponds in the following 3 project areas:

a)          Nam Sang Wai, Fung Lok Wai and Mong Tseng;

b)          Mai Po, Tai Sang Wai and Lut Chau; and

c)          Ma Tso Lung and San Tin.

Scope:

Enhancing the ecological and nature conservation value of the sites, and organising public engagement activities to raise public appreciation and awareness towards ecological conservation.

Remarks:

For each of the 4 project areas above, only one application with best assessment performance will be selected for approval with granting of fund.

 

2.      Research Activities on Countryside Conservation & Revitalisation (RA) Projects

One RA project is invited in this round of application to review village cultural development of Ho Sheung Heung with maintaining of the core wetland habitats.

The Cultural History of the Ho Sheung Heung Village and Maintenance of Wet Habitats

Location:

Ho Sheung Heung

Scope:

The project shall:

1.   consolidate the history of Ho Sheung Heung village culture through baseline survey(s), oral history collection and documentation review; and

2.   maintain the core wetland habitats at Ho Sheung Heung, covering around 1.5 ha wet farmlands (at least half of the area should be paddy rice) and not less than 0.5 ha water flea pond.

Remarks:

Only one application with best assessment performance will be selected for approval with granting of fund.

 

3.      Cultural Rehabilitation / Revitalisation (CR) projects

Building on the outcomes of past CCFS projects in Mui Tsz Lam, a CR project is now invited to carry out revitalisation work in the village.

Scope

Building on the various outcomes of past CCFS projects in Mui Tsz Lam and Kap Tong, the project shall promote village revitalisation through a community-driven model by organising immersive cultural and eco-tour activities that showcase the villages’ unique natural and cultural assets, while introducing economic incentives to support their long-term sustainability.

Remarks

Only one application with best assessment performance will be selected for approval with granting of fund.

 

The cut-off time of application for this round of application is 5 p.m. on 13 August 2026 (Thursday).  The Application Forms (Version 1.8, July 2026) and the Guide to Application (Version 1.9, July 2026) can be downloaded from here.  It is expected that the earliest time for announcement of the application results would be in January 2027. 

Applications outside the specified project types, prescribed themes, scopes and/or locations mentioned above and incomplete applications will not be assessed.

In the event that applicants intend to submit supplementary information or provide clarifications to the application before the cut-off time, it will be considered as application revision.  The revision date of the application will supersede the original submission date of application.

Both the original copy (hard copy) and the soft copy of the completed Application Form should reach the Secretariat of the CCFS (Secretariat) before the cut-off time.  Late submissions, including those posted prior to, but received after the specified cut-off time will not be considered. The original copy should be addressed to 22/F, Chinachem Exchange Square, 1 Hoi Wan Street, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong and the soft copy should be emailed to [email protected] .  Please mark “Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme Application” on the envelop cover and the email title column respectively.  Please ensure payment of sufficient postage, the Secretariat will not accept underpaid mails nor bear the surcharge so arising. 

In case the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.  8 or above, or “Extreme Conditions” is in force for any duration between 12 noon and 5 p.m. on 13 August 2026, the cut-off time will be extended to 5 p.m. on the next working day.  Special announcement about the details will be made on the CCO website.

The Secretariat reserves the right in handling process of applications received at any time in its absolute discretion without giving any reason or prior notice.

  

II.                Briefing Session

The CCO will organise an online briefing session on 24 July 2026 (Friday) to assist interested local non-profit making organisations (NPOs)/bodies/persons to have a better understanding of the CCFS, the prescribed themes and the scopes of this round of application.  Details are as follows:
