Fishpond Fun Day with Tea Cake Workshop

Event Introduction

To celebrate National Ecology Day on August 15, we are excited to promote the ecological conservation of local fishponds and wetlands in Hong Kong! We will take you to Nam Sang Wai for birdwatching and to make delicious tea cakes together!

Nam Sang Wai is located near the “Mai Po Inner Deep Bay Ramsar Wetland” and features diverse habitats that support rich biodiversity, including fishponds, mudflats, and mangroves. Currently, fishpond operators continue to work diligently in Nam Sang Wai, supplying fresh freshwater fish like mullets to the people of Hong Kong.

Participants will be guided by our eco-tour guides to explore the traditional operations and ecological value of local fish farming, as well as to observe various waterbirds and learn about the diversity of bird species in Hong Kong. Additionally, fishpond operators will be invited to share insights about their lives and personally teach participants how to make traditional tea cakes! Let’s have fun at the fishpond with the operators!
