【CUHK Ecology Month 2025】'Hidden Wonders of Hong Kong: A Journey into Mushroom Diversity' Lecture

Event Introduction

The world of fungi presents a fascinating duality in nature. These organisms serve both as prized culinary delicacies and as nature's most enigmatic decomposers. The rich aroma of matsutake mushrooms, the luxurious appeal of truffles, and the health benefits of Lingzhi mushrooms showcase fungi as true "forest treasures." Yet, their ability to thrive in dark, damp environments gives them an air of mystery.

In this special lecture, Dr Alvin Tang, Mycologist and Lecturer at CUHK School of Life Sciences, will guide us through Hong Kong’s most beautiful mushroom wonders. Through stunning visuals and engaging narration, you will discover the vibrant colors and extraordinary forms of our local mushrooms, revealing the most enchanting side of these "natural alchemists."
