"City of Shells: Our Forgotten Oyster Reefs" Screening

Event Introduction
City of Shells: Our Forgotten Oyster Reefs, directed by Mike Sakas and filmed over three years, this documentary dives deep into the once-thriving oyster reef ecosystems of Hong Kong, revealing their vital role in supporting marine biodiversity, purifying water, and protecting coastlines.
Once widespread along Hong Kong's shores, oyster reefs have nearly vanished due to overharvesting, pollution, and urban development. Through historical research and scientific exploration, the film reconnects us with these forgotten marine treasures and calls for collective action to restore a healthy ocean for future generations.
