
Sha Lo Tung Baseline Contextual Study
Project Description
Sha Lo Tung (SLT) is over 300-year-old Hakka villages with rich cultural and ecological resources. Based on the recommendations of the Expert Group on Conservation of Sha Lo Tung (Expert Group), the project conducts thematic baseline studies on topics such as tangible and intangible heritage and its connections to local ecology and biodiversity; village clan lineages and socio-political structures; and visitor patterns and behaviour to consolidate baseline knowledge to SLT and develop constructive outcomes that serve as key reference for formulating SLT Master Layout Plan of eco-tourism initiatives, and developing the separate design briefs for the associated visitor facilities in the future.

• Take green minibus No. 20P from Tai Po Market MTR Station to Fung Yuen Village, then hike for about 35 minutes to Sha Lo Tung
• Take green minibus No. 52B from Fanling MTR Station to the junction of Hok Tau Road and Hok Tau Wai, then hike for about 50 minutes to Sha Lo Tung
